Website optimization refers to how quickly and efficiently your website performs. There are several tools on the web to help you analyze how well your site performs and how well it ranks with other websites. In today’s competitive market, website efficiency is extremely important. Google Insights can be found here. Google can use this data to determine how well your page ranks. If your site and your site’s direct competitor have similar content then how well your page performs can determine if you rank higher in search results or if your competitor will rank higher.
Take our site for example. Currently our mobile user experience is 100 out of 1oo. This means that the layout of the site and the areas that the user can interact with the site are optimal for the mobile user to navigate around your site.
Now that the user has had a good mobile experience of our site, let’s check its desktop performance.
Here we rank at 93 out of a possible 100. You will notice that Google has marked this as “Green” out of “Green”, “Yellow, and “Red.” This means that the majority of all of the files that makeup our website are optimized for speed and user experience.
Next, lets take a look at Pingdom. Pingdom tests your sites performance and primarily its load time which refers to how quickly the content loads in the users’ browsers.

As you can see, our Pingom score has been as high as 96/100! Our website is faster than 96% of all tested websites on Pingdom. Considering our homepage has multiple images and most impressively, a video playing in the background of the header…this is something we are quite proud of. We have optimized our site to load in 611 milliseconds even with a 4MB video file playing in the background.
Our Pingdom score realistically is more like 83/100 coming in faster than 96% of the websites tested on Pingdom but after caching files and making a few adjustments to some of the files that make up our website we were able to achieve the score above of 96/100.
